UEYs Across Canada
Understanding the Early Years (UEY) began in 1999 as a pilot research initiative. Since then, 49 communities have become UEY sites. See below for the list of current and past UEY communities.

These are the first five UEY communities, which began in 2000 and ended in 2005:
North York, Ontario
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan
Prince Edward Island
Southwestern Newfoundland
Winnipeg, Manitoba

These seven UEY communities began in 2002 and ended in 2007:
Abbotsford, British Columbia
Hampton/Sussex, New Brunswick
Mississauga (Dixie-Bloor), Ontario
Montreal, Quebec
Niagara Falls, Ontario
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Twenty-one UEY communities began in 2005, including Milton, and they will end in late summer, 2008:
